Go to places that sell cheap jewelry

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

Go to places that sell cheap jewelry. Often, these can be found in thrift shops, pre-owned stores and pawnshops. Here you will find discounted jewelry. The downside is that most of the pieces that you will find here were already owned by other people before.

Another way to find cheap diamond rings is by looking out for big sales in jewelry shops. Often, they will conduct big sales before the Christmas season to get rid of their old stocks. Of course, the discount that you will get here is not as big as one that you will get in thrift shops.
Platinum is a rare, extremely long wearing, natural white luster metal. However, it can be used in its purest form when used in jewelry. Platinum does not require being rhodium plated like white gold. One advantage of platinum rings is that they can be cut-off the finger in the event of an emergency.

Since platinum is a very dense, heavy metal, so a platinum ring is usually heavier than an 18ct gold ring. Platinum is also more durable than gold and so is more preferred for wedding bands. However, because of all these positive characteristics of platinum, it is significantly more expensive than gold, approximately twice the price of an 18ct white gold ring. Platinum provides an excellent backdrop for diamonds but is equally elegant alone. Most men prefer platinum wedding bands, if they can afford it, because of its streamlined beauty, and hypoallergenic proprieties.

Taking into account it’s rarity and cost, the selection of men’s platinum wedding rings is obviously smaller than the ranges available for gold and titanium rings.

Most men, when choosing a platinum wedding band, tend to opt for the simpler version, even though platinum allows for maximum versatility. A simple platinum men’s wedding band can be bought for as much as about $145 with no specific higher range. Most platinum rings are made on a thick extruded blank. It is suggested to ask the vendors to clearly display the thickness and the weigh of the rings. Platinum rings can be made with a comfort-fit also for more comfortable wearing. Platinum rings can be set with precious stones, like Rubies or Blue Sapphires, instead of diamonds, or a combination of precious stones and diamonds.
Diamond rings are expensive. In fact, this is one of the most expensive pieces of jewelry that you will be buying in your lifetime. Because of this, there are a lot of people out there who would take advantage and try to sell you a diamond that is not really a diamond.

With the creation of the zirconia, a diamond that looks and feels like a diamond but is not really a diamond, telling the fake from the real is all the more harder. It is important then to be very careful in buying diamond rings. If you feel that you are not buying your money’s worth, do not buy. It is better to err on the side of caution, as they say. Below are some tips that will help you to avoid buying fake diamond rings.

In here you can choose more than a hundred special gifts for everyone on your list as convenient as me. If you’re considering a business in jewelry

Friday, July 11th, 2008

If you’re considering a business in jewelry as an importer, wholesaler, or retailer, understanding the costs of that jewelry is critical. Having this knowledge allows you to better appraise pieces you purchase and avoid being ripped off by those offering over-priced or fake jewelry. This article pertains specifically to the costs associated with the creation, distribution, and marketing of sterling silver jewelry.

Demand Driven Costs

Every year, 650 million ounces of silver gets mined from countries like Canada, Australia, Mexico, Peru, and the United States, with more coming from scrap recycling and investor trading. In 2001, 24% of the silver was used in photography, while 33% was used in jewelry, 40% for industrial uses, and only 3% for coins and medals. Within these categories, silver is used in a myriad of ways; from circuits in electronics, as anti-bacterial treatments in medicine, and is even sprinkled on food as decoration.

As a result of this supply and demand from competing industries, the last century has seen tremendous fluctuations in the price of silver. Prices saw an all-time high in 1980, when it reached $49.45 U.S. dollars per Troy ounce.

While less expensive than gold and platinum, jewelry pieces made from silver still sell for a high premium on the market. The first cost associated with sterling silver jewelry is the cost of silver. The current cost per ounce is around $16.00 U.S. dollars, having risen sharply in the past few years. The base cost of the metal used is usually only a fraction of the costs that go into creating and delivery a piece of jewelry to the end customer.

Costs of Extra Material

Silver is often not the only component used in Sterling Silver Jewelry. The addition of Crystals, Pearls, Jade or other stones will increase the final cost of the piece. Many silver pieces also come coated with other more expensive metals, such as Platinum, Gold, or Rhodium, either to add tarnish resistance or improve shine.

Jewelry pieces are handled by a person at one point or another, often for the more delicate tasks of design. Everything from setting the stones and creating the finish are part of the significant processing costs associated with turning a piece of silver into jewelry. Such labor costs are heavily influenced by where the jewelry is made. Thus, in countries with higher labor costs, jewelry production is usually more expensive regardless of whether the pieces are of higher quality or better design.

Unlike other jewelers

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Unlike other jewelers, Harry Winston is hands on from start to finish with their pieces. The whole process of cutting, polishing, designing and creating the finished jewel is conducted in the Harry Winston 5th Avenue building in NYC. Their jewelry and engagement rings are like no others when it comes to quality, craftsmanship, and prestige.

Image has always been of the utmost importance to Harry Winston. Harry Winston has draped some of the world’s biggest celebrities in diamonds. Who could forget Bennifer’s enormous pink diamond engagement ring. Ben Affleck loved Harry Winston jewelry enough to also present Jennifer Garner with a 4.5 carat Harry Winston ring. Paris Hilton briefly sported a canary yellow Harry Winston diamond, when engaged to a man with her same namesake. You may have heard of the Taylor-Burton diamond, a 70 carat pear shaped rock? Hands down, the celebs love Harry Winston. Perhaps this is because Harry Winston covers celebrities in diamonds for some of the largest, most glamorous red carpet events like the Tonys, the Emmys, and the Academy Awards. And their prices are high enough to keep most of the riff-raff out of their stores and from the majority of commoners from wearing their designs.

From what I’ve heard, entry level pricing for 1 carat Harry Winston engagement rings begin at around $15,000. And forget about buying a little token item. Most everything in the store sells for over $10,000. If you are dead-set on a Harry Winston ring and are a “want champagne on a beer budget” kind of individual, consider getting a local jeweler to make a replica ring.

Don’t be disappointed but you won’t find a Harry Winston store located at your local mall. There are only a handful locations in Switzerland, Japan, France, Hawaii, Nevada, California, Florida, and New York.

Nose rings have become increasingly popular over the last few years. At one time the fashion for nose rings was only adopted by a very small minority but now all that has changed. Wearing nose rings has spread into every day society and as such has become much more socially acceptable.

Right here you are probably getting a vision of everyone walking around wearing large nose rings, but this isn’t the case. A lot of people also wear studs in preference to rings, which are available in a variety of styles and metal types, including precious metals.

The background of nose rings is quite an interesting one. They are mentioned in religious writings and are even used as a way to acknowledge good looks or status by some cultures. Nose rings were widely adopted by the punks back in the nineteen eighties and as such were seen as trashy and rebellious for some time, but the social view on them has now changed for the better as wearing them has become more mainstream.

Looking for an engagement ring

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Looking for an engagement ring is a crucial decision, the size shape and color of the ring should be appropriate for the bride to be. It can be compared to shopping for clothes; you have to carefully choose the color, size and design of the clothes that would compliment your figure.

This scenario is true when deciding for the perfect engagement ring. Because of the shape of the oval diamond engagement ring, it flatters fingers and consequently the wearer as well. The elliptical shape of this ring makes fingers appear slender and sexier.

Men who want to buy an engagement ring may discover that it is difficult to look for this kind of ring especially if it is a diamond solitaire since it is a rare find.

Colorless oval diamond engagement rings are not easy to find thus, their value is higher than that of colored oval shaped diamonds.

The oval diamond engagement ring can also pass as an heirloom, because of its classic cut and shape that was perfected in the 60’s. Any woman would treasure this ring forever and pass it on for many generations.

The diamond is considered to be one of the rarest and most precious gemstones. If you buy a good quality diamond ring then it will cost you a fortune, so when you sell it, try and get a good amount in return. The very first step you need to follow is the appraisal of your diamond ring. This needs to be done before getting in contact with any potential seller.

Appraisal will help you estimate the worth of the ring, but make sure that you approach a certified appraiser for this work. He or she will observe the ring and complete the procedure for appraisal so that the worth is determined. Once this process is over, you will be issued a certificate that will state the result. This certificate can be supplied to the buyers when requested, so that they also get to know what the ring is worth.

The second most important step is determining the method through which the ring would be sold. You can pursue several avenues for selling it. Some people like to sell their jewelry by placing an ad in the newspaper while some prefer online sales because it is not only convenient, but the ad also reaches a wide section of buyers through the Internet. There are many jewelry stores that also purchase used diamond rings and make upfront payment to the seller. You can opt any of these options to find a buyer for your ring.

This is the final, but important step for selling your diamond ring. Parting with diamond jewelry could be difficult for women. Not many people like to sell jewelry even if it has become old. It is considered to be an asset and investment so people prefer collecting more, rather than parting with it. Even you may have some sentimental value attached to the ring, no matter how old it is.

The type of jewelry that teens

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

The type of jewelry that teens wear is most of the time derived from what they see on TV and in the magazines. The emergence of the MTV culture is one of powerful factors that affect teen jewelry. Teens try to attain the kind of image that their celebrity idols have so they imitate the kind jewelries that these celebrities wear.

Clean the ends well with alcohol. This is needed to remove any traces of oils, etc. which will lead to a joint failure later. Arrange a means to hold the ends together so the ends will not be moved until the cement cures. Do this arrangement first and be certain it will work.

Then, mix the two part cement according to directions. Apply only enough cement to one broken edge to cover the end with a little cement. Push the pieces together and see if too much runs out the edges. If so, wipe off before the cement starts to cure then place together again. Hold the pieces in place as mentioned already.

Leave the left over on a mixing paper or plastic, whatever is used to mix the cement and place the mixer(toothpick, paper clip or other handy object) into the unused part. When the object is cemented hard on the unused portion of the cement, you know the jade is also cured and may be handled.

Excess if any may be carefully trimmed with a razor edge or left alone. Trimming of extruded cement will often leave a white and easily seen line. Sometimes it is best to leave the cement as is.

If you have way too much cement and way too much is pushed from the joined edges, clean in acetone or nail polish remover. Clean well as you can. Then start again with a new mix of the epoxy. Do not use “super glue” since this will not hold strongly for a long period of time.

If you want to try to do the work, I believe you can. The first try might be messy and you might have to try a second time. If you want someone else to do it, a jeweler should be able to cement the pieces together for your repair depends on the sort of break in the bracelet. If the jade is broken and the ends of the break fit fairly well, a jeweler (or you if handy with such) may use a good epoxy cement to join the ends. A recommended epoxy is Hughes 330, recommended because it cures water clear and is quite strong with gemstone materials. In any case, epoxy cements have no strength when first mixed. The cure brings the strength. If you try it yourself, dry fit first to find a way to support the pieces during the 2 hour cure time.

If the break is jagged and the ends do not fit, the best solution is to have a jeweler make a metal tube, either of silver or gold, to go over the broken ends and bring all together as a jade bangle with “metal fittings”. The tube will need to have two ends angled to fit the curve of the jade pieces at each break.

Turquoise is also the birthstone

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Turquoise is also the birthstone for anyone born in the month of October. It makes for a perfect birthday gift, but doesn’t need to be limited to only October. Women everywhere love this pale blue gem. It can make for a good wedding or anniversary gift as well.

So, if you are looking for a jewel that is not only beautiful, but one that has been around for centuries, then you need the warmth and beauty of turquoise jewelry.
Another name for Black Pearl is the Tahitian Pearl. The story behind the name is the way how the pearl is produced. It is made from the large, black lipped pearl oyster that is called the Tahitian black pear oyster. This mollusk is located in the tropical Indo-Pacific Ocean.

Tahiti is popular for its crystalline and tranquil waters coaxing tourists to visit their shores for a well-deserved break. The beautiful islands surrounding the grounds add up to the rarity of the black pearl produced by the black-lipped oyster.

Historically, the first pearl farms that started searching for Tahitian pearls are located in Hikueru in the 1960s. Hikueru is the island in Bora Bora. Successful harvests then led to the exports of Tahitian Black Pearls from 1965 until 1972. Hikieru was notorious for their production of these precious materials.

The poet Sadi wrote in an interesting fable that a drop of water fell from a cloud into the sea one day. It felt confused and at the same time ashamed because it was set side by side with an immense body of water. It believed that its existence is nothing compared to the boundless abyss. Then to its surprise, it blossomed in the bosom of the pearl-shell and became a magnificent black pearl. Later on, it donned the crown of a king.

That’s why Oriental people consider the Tahitian pearl so precious because of the legend connected to it. The story mentioned above shows a lesson that by being humble one can gain exaltation.

But in reality, Tahitian pearls can be cultivated. When a pearl is said to be cultivated, human beings assisted in creating such an organic gem. True that each pearl begins as a piece from the mollusk or oyster but once the nacre kicks in and forms layers after layer, then the pearl is produced later on.

Black Tahitian pearl earrings are magnificent creation and has become to be the most popular pearl in the world. These earrings are luminous and are celebrated for their rich, deep colors. Amazingly, they have a perfect spherical shape.

Pearl experts know that obtaining a spherically perfect pearl is a rarity for pearl farmers. The closest to it being a perfect circle, the more valuable the pearl. As for black Tahitian pearl earrings, a majority of them have perfect spherical shapes. That is exactly the reason why these make the wearer stand out when in a crowd. Black Tahitian pearl earrings are simply exquisite.

If a necklace is striking enough

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

If a necklace is striking enough, it can make you stand out of the crowd. Keep a lookout for stunning necklaces. If a necklace catches your eye and the price is right, get it for your jewelry wardrobe. Trust your instinct. If you love what you see on sight, then it is right for you. Wear these necklaces to create your signature look for Spring 2007.

the style of pearl bracelet
Bracelets are hot for Spring 2007, and even hotter for Fall 2007. Chanel sent out models wearing a bare of matching cuffs, one on each wrist, Wonder Woman style for their Fall 2007 fashion show. These bracelets, worn over bare arms or over long sleeves are the epitome of chic. Get a pair in silver, black and in multicolor patterns for 2007.

For any of us who love jewelry we enjoy the beauty of the designs and want to revel in them as much as possible. So tucking them away in a jewelry box to get all tangle up and forgotten about is a bit back to front.

I have found that using creative display ideas lets me enjoy my favorite pieces everyday. So here are seven reasons why jewelry display sets are the best way to display your favorite pieces:

Enjoy the beauty of the designs. We all love our jewelry, we would not have bought it otherwise so to then take it home and stuff it in a box so we only see it when we are getting it out is illogical. By displaying the beautiful dangle earrings on an earring holder and necklaces on torso stands you get to enjoy the beauty of the designs and that is so much better.

easy way to get pearl necklace
Avoid nasty messy tangles that can scratch and damage your loved jewelry. When earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings get put all together in one they have a habit of getting all tangled up into hard to undo messes and it gets all too hard to get them out and wear them. While in the knots metal is scratching up against metal, glass, pearls and doing harm. By using a range of storage options that include display stands, organizers and boxes you get to separate out them to take better care of it.

It is much easier to know what you have and make a choice what to wear when you can see what you have. This makes it so much easier picking out your necklace, earrings and rings for the day, especially for those of us who are not morning people and need as much help as possible first thing or even when we are rushing to do a quick change and get out the door.

You can theme your visual display by colors and styles by developing a collection of presentation stands to best exhibit your designs. Yes, I do love jewelry so playing with it, organizing it into color themes and into styles gives me joy. I like having the order and being able to go directly to what I want to wear. By making a display out of your collection you can also create the professional look you see in the shops that gets you wanting all that beautiful Bling.

To assemble the ring

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

To assemble the ring, size and set the stone would run about $150. I don’t know if your ring requires more work than assembly of the head to the shank, sizing and stone setting. That added work could account for the labor charged. Then again, if only “putting together” the labor seems high to me.

Perhaps the cost is balanced out with the lower price for the head. I don’t know what is going on with the jeweler with whom you are dealing.

All in all, the platinum prices are not out of line, but the head is too low unless very light weight. The labor seems too high. Totals are not that far off from the price charged you.

Then again, there is not a real excuse for charging more than the original estimate unless you had been informed that parts are going to cost much more due to rising platinum prices. Perhaps the jeweler is sticking to original head costs and making up the difference in labor, who knows. In any regard, sight unseen, the price total is not far off what I quoted. Keep in mind I picked a fairly medium heavy shank and a heavier than usual head. I might be comparing apples and oranges here and that should be kept in mind.

The trade-in price for your old ring is not that far off, either. This is true IF you were told you were getting the “scrap” price and not trading in a usable ring. Scrap rates vary from refiner to refiner but according to today’s platinum prices, we would likely offer about $110 for the old setting as scrap metal.

Sure, we would get more than that form the refiner but once overhead including refining costs, a profit and the fact the ring might sit around a while until we had enough metal to send to the refiner, the price quoted is not out of line. At first, I thought the price too low. I visited some refiner sites today and double checked.

If you were to sell you ring directly to the refiner, certainly you would get more the platinum content. The problem is, refiners often require minimum amounts of metal to be accepted for refining and one ring is not enough.

This is the final part of the answer. I will summarize by saying, the labor seems too high unless more work than assembly, sizing and setting is needed. The head seems too low unless quite light weight. The value offered for scrap (if that was the agreement!) is not far off at all.

I know it seems very low compared to new materials from the supply house. That is a fact of metal accepted as scrap and not as a usable item of jewelry. The broken prong is not your responsibility. The jeweler has little excuse for not informing you of the much higher finished price than estimated or quoted.

I went shopping with my friends and find a interesting thing .We find a lot of wholesale sterling silver jewelry, pearl pendant, cultured pearl earings, freshwater pearl ring, cheap pearl bracelet, cultured pearl necklace, pearl strands, pearl bracelets, wholesale pearl beads in pearl wholesale store. In fact, one diamond ring

Monday, July 7th, 2008

In fact, one diamond ring may be equivalent to a couple of months of your apartment rental. Still, you don’t have to pay more if you can pay for it less? This is possible if you know the techniques that will help you find a quality diamond ring at discounted prices.

Read on and you might learn a trick or two.

Without knowing how much you are willing to shell out, you will not be able to find the diamond ring that will fit your needs. In order to set out for a cheaper diamond ring, you have to first determine what is cheap and what is expensive for you.

Be familiar with the prices

Unlike some commodities, diamond rings or any jewelry with diamonds on it do not have fixed prices. Prices of the pieces will depend upon the following properties of the diamond: clarity, cut, color and carat. Clarity refers to the clearness of the gemstone, its brilliance as well as its imperfections.

The color on the other hand refers to the “color” of the stone. Although diamonds are clear, there are varieties that have yellow shades. The carat refers to the weight and size of the stone while cut is the shape the stone is cut. Each property will determine the price of the diamond. For instance, the better the clarity, the higher the price. The same goes with the color. Yellowish-colored stones are less expensive. Reputable stores keep records of these things so don’t be afraid to ask the store

Watch out for sales

Stores frequently offer promos and sales, often during special occasions like anniversaries. Some conduct sales before Christmas to get rid of old stocks. Take note of these sales and follow the prices of the jewelry. Buy when there is a sale so that you can take advantage of the discounts. Although jewelry stores do not really give much in terms of discounts, a couple of percent is already pretty good especially if the price is high.

Look in thrift shops, garage sales and second hand stores

Although diamond rings are not exactly a dime a dozen in these kinds of shops, sometimes, they do appear. Be on the lookout but of course before you buy make sure that you have taken note of the specifications. You may be paying more for what it is really worth.

And finally the store or the suppliers’

Monday, July 7th, 2008

And finally the store or the suppliers’ customer service should be impeccable. A customer is entitled to walk out of a store if the people at the store are rude or inattentive. You must know that customer service does not stop as soon as the customer leaves the premises of the store. The store should have guarantees about the durability of the jewelry armoire. A no-hassle return policy is best to give you peace of mind when you finally decide to buy one.
